On Beheadings
The boundary between discomfort and harm seems to me to be better described as a Venn Diagram than as a singular point on a spectrum. If one could reduce the overlap of a Venn Diagram to a singular point, Venn Diagrams would be pointless (the irony of language) and Loki’s Wager solved. Perhaps, though, we needn’t behead harm from discomfort, and thus the problem of clean separation dissipates. It would certainly make life easier, but I’m not sure it’s terribly satisfying when wanting to avoid harm without retreating into mere comfort.
I wonder how many concepts are Venn Diagrams.
